A successful end-of-tenancy clean is as much about planning as cleaning. Confirming the scope and handover details early can prevent delays on moving day.

Check the tenancy or inventory requirements

Review any check-in report, cleaning clause or agent instructions. Requirements can vary, so the agreed standard should be clear before booking.

Empty the property first

Where possible, schedule cleaning after belongings and rubbish have been removed. An empty property allows better access to cupboards, floors and hidden areas.

Confirm what is included

Ask specifically about ovens, appliances, inside cupboards, windows, carpets and external areas. Never assume every service is included automatically.

Arrange keys and utilities

Make sure the cleaner can enter and that water and electricity remain available. Agree where keys will be collected and returned.

Leave time before inspection

Avoid scheduling the clean too close to the final inspection. A sensible buffer allows the property to dry and gives time to address anything unexpected.
